              Learning to Farm
Bloomfield Farm is a teaching farm.

We are witnessing a dramatic change in farming in Vermont.  Many more people, especially younger people from a non-farming background, are committing themselves to learning how to farm.  We're inspired by the energy and enthusiasm we have seen, and we hope to provide an opportunity to learn a way of farming relevant to a new group of farmers.

              Qualities of our farming method:
requires less land, under an acre
              requires less capital investment
              is organically-based and low-impact
              reduces inputs
              relies on human power primarily
is market-driven to support a household income

For 2012, we will be offering several opportunities to learn at Bloomfield Farm.

School groups:  We've had wonderful visits from students at Charlotte Central School and Champlain Valley Union High School.  We encourage students, educators, administrators, and parents to get in touch to schedule a visit.

Volunteer and learn:   Anyone is welcome to come and help out on the farm, to gain hands-in-the-dirt experience. Please contact us if interested in volunteer opportunities.

              Starting a small farm?
We can consult with beginning growers and organizations.  Our method is especially relevant for small parcels.

Please note that for the 2012 season we are not hiring employees nor are we are offering any internship or apprenticeship positions.
